Grand Center - The Sheldon - Welcome Desk Attendant

The Welcome Desk attendant will serve as box office staff and marketing administrative support at The Sheldon.  They will respond to patron’s ticketing needs under the supervision of Guest Services Manager, learning Metrotix software, policies and procedures for customer facing skills in-person and over the phone.   

 

In quiet periods, the welcome desk attendant may support other marketing administrative tasks that may include data entry, preparing mailings, organizational tasks, and proof-reading.  Training will be provided for software and tasks assigned.  An aptitude for learning is required.    

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Staff welcome desk as a welcoming and professional presence for patrons and visitors in business hours, with additional night and weekend box office shifts.  
  • Provide excellent customer service to those interested in buying tickets over the phone or in person, supporting box office activities. 
  • Maintain a neat personal appearance with business-casual dress. 
  • Keep shared workspace functional and tidy. 
  • Perform other administrative related duties as assigned by supervisor. 
  • Make suggestions, convey observations and acquired information to his or her supervisor. 

 

Required Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Must have accepted a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. is required. 
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication, possess strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and self-motivated. 
  • Must interact with Sheldon staff and visitors in a polite, professional, and courteous manner. 
  • Must be dedicated to duty, possess good judgment and discretion, while being diligent in the performance of their responsibilities. 
  • Attendance must be reliable and punctual. 

 

Preferred Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Interest in, or experience with performing and visual arts
