Mott MacDonald is looking for professionals to join our ever-expanding transportation team here in the Western New York area. We are currently looking for a Construction Inspector I/II interested in highway, bridge, and other related transportation construction projects. The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of construction industry standards and practices in the transportation sector and be interested in acquiring experience and expertise on large scale highway and bridge construction projects.
The successful candidate will:
Have interest in a diverse range of construction projects including but not limited to bridge, highway, culvert, and related transportation improvement projects.
Be detail oriented and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks at a time.
Possess appropriate level of education and/or experience.
Have valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Description of Duties:
Candidate will report to senior level inspection staff and assist with monitoring of daily construction activities, tracking and reporting quantity usage, and preparing daily work reports as needed.
Verify conformance of materials supplied by contractor with standard specifications and contract documents.
Interpret construction drawings and specifications on projects as needed.
Must be willing to work weekends and/or weeknights as necessary.
Candidate Qualifications:
0-5 years inspection experience related to highway and bridge construction including New York State Department of Transportation, New York State Thruway Authority, and/or locally-administered Federal-Aid projects.
Proficiency in collecting data, interpreting plans, conducting field measurements, performing calculations, and documenting work performed by contractor.
Proficiency with standard software applications and ability to learn new programs.
Associates Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology or Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology.
Good organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
