FWS - Technology Assistant

The Department of Kinetic Imaging (KI), an experimental media arts program (video, animation, sound, 3D computer animation, and emerging media), in the School of the Arts, is seeking work study eligible students for the position of "Technology Assistant." Students in this position are responsible for the security, operation, and upkeep of the KI equipment check-out service and the KI labs and studios.

KI equipment inventory includes significant assets in the form of cameras, microphones, and other sensitive recording equipment that is available for student use. Technology Assistants will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to facilitate equipment loans and returns, utilizing an online database system to record all equipment loans and returns as they occur. Technology Assistants are also responsible for routinely checking all equipment for functionality and accessories upon return. Technology Assistants will be on-time and accessible while on-duty, will work closely with management to ensure the facilities are operational, and assist with equipment and operations-related activities.
 

Technology Assistants are also responsible for enforcing KI policies at all times and will actively and authoritatively pursue this obligation and maintain communication with management, faculty, and staff. Only applicants who display strong writing skills, have a positive and attentive attitude, trustworthy disposition, positive social abilities, and are detail oriented will be considered for the position.

Qualifications:

• Must have been awarded / qualify for Federal Work Study program.
• Must be attentive and punctual at all times.
• Must have adequate organizational skills, attention to detail, be able to work independently.
• Strong email capabilities and good communication skills.
• Attentiveness and interpersonal skills to provide quality customer service.
• Must work well in a fast-paced environment and be professional in all actions and communications.
• Must be flexible, creative, and react well to change.
• Ability to work between 8-10 hours per week.
• Desire to learn about media technologies and equipment.
• Must have weekday availability.
   

Scheduled shifts:

This position is a federal work study eligible only position. It's a part-time position that consists of approximately 8-10 hours per week. We will work around your class schedule.

***Students majoring in Kinetic Imaging (or AFO intending to major in Kinetic Imaging) are highly preferred.
