Position Summary: The Compliance Intern provides analytical, administrative, and audit readiness support to the Compliance and Legal Affairs function. Under direct supervision, the intern assists with incident management data analysis, corrective action tracking, risk reporting, FTCA Deeming Cycle preparation, and limited credentialing data oversight. This position offers firsthand experience in healthcare compliance, risk management, and regulatory preparedness.

 

Job Responsibilities and Performance Standards:

 

Incident Management & Data Analysis

  • Analyze spreadsheets and data exports from the Incident Management system.
  • Identify trends, recurring incident types, and ownership or escalation gaps.
  • Assist in developing incident assignment guidance (e.g., Compliance, Risk, HR, Operations, Clinical Leadership).
  • Prepare summary analyses for Compliance review.

Incident Closure & Documentation Support

  • Assist with “close‑the‑loop” documentation for incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Review documentation for completeness and consistency.
  • Maintain organized tracking tools to support audit readiness.

Corrective Action Tracking

  • Track corrective and preventive action plans, including responsible party and target completion dates.
  • Monitor progress and escalate overdue or unclear items to the supervisor.

Risk Reporting

  • Assist with preparation of presentation decks summarizing incident trends and areas of risk.
  • Ensure materials are accurate and suitable for leadership review.

FTCA Deeming Cycle Support

  • Assist with preparation and auditing of files for the FTCA Deeming Cycle.
  • Conduct completeness checks of supporting documentation under supervision.

Credentialing Data Support (Limited Scope)

  • Review credentialing spreadsheets for data completeness and accuracy.
  • Identify discrepancies or missing information for Compliance review.
  • Does not include independent credentialing decisions.

General Compliance Support

  • Participate in scheduled meetings and virtual check‑ins.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and protected information.
  • Comply with organizational policies and compliance requirements.

 

Requirements:

  • Enrollment in a graduate level program in Public Health, Health Policy, Risk Management, Data Informatics, or related fields. 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills. 
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and basic data analysis tools. 
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are important.
