Infrastructure Engineer

VI.
Scope of Job: Knows and applies commonly used networking and server administration concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience, instructions and pre-established guidelines to plan and accomplish goals that require a certain degree of evaluation, originality, latitude, and independent judgment.
VII.
Job Summary: Designs, plans, maintains, and supports corporate server and datacenter infrastructure. Requires travel among NAL locations based on project or operational requirements, as job focus is company-wide.
VIII.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1.
Administers and supports various server operating systems including Linux, Windows and VMWare
2.
Installs, configures, patches and troubleshoots physical and virtual servers
3.
Develops specifications for new server hardware and infrastructure designs
4.
Makes decisions/recommendations and provides input on server equipment purchases and usage
5.
Designs, documents, analyzes, and configures physical and virtual production server environment
6.
Performs moves, adds and changes of physical equipment, as required
7.
Follow change procedures and work in a fast paced environment
8.
Develops, maintains, and oversees compliance with server security policies
9.
Monitors server environment and plans for expansion, consolidation, and redesign
10.
Administers and supports the company’s data backup and replication systems
11.
Leads special projects in areas of expertise, as required
12.
Stays current with industry best practices and technological advances
13.
Participates in on-call program, which requires independent judgment and autonomous interpretation of processes and procedures to resolve problems
14.
Assists with end user and endpoint device support, especially hands-on support as required
15.
Performs other duties as assigned
IX.
Requirements:
1.
Meets one of the following education and experience requirements:
a.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, plus 2 to 4 years of related work experience; OR
b.
Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, plus 4 to 6 years of related work experience
2.
One or more server OS certifications (MCP, MCSE and/or CLE)
3.
Experience in network or server administration
4.
Experience and advanced knowledge with the following:
a.
Storage Area Networks – Vdisks, VSANs, LUNs, etc.
b.
Backup and recovery solutions – Backup Exec, CommVault, etc.
c.
Server and network operating systems – Windows, Linux, OES
d.
Virtualization with VMWare ESXi
e.
Networking switch configuration - Cisco and Juniper
