Engineering Intern
Radarsign | Marietta, GA (On-site)
Type: Part-time / Full-time, Semester Internship
Department: Engineering
About Radarsign
Since 2004, Radarsign has been the pioneer and leading manufacturer of armored radar speed signs, delivering MUTCD-compliant traffic-calming and traffic safety solutions to municipalities, schools, law enforcement agencies, DOTs, HOAs, and military installations across the U.S. and Canada. Engineered and manufactured in the USA at our Marietta, Georgia headquarters, our durable, solar- and battery-powered signs help reduce speeding and make roads safer in communities nationwide.
We're a growing manufacturer with a hands-on culture, and we're looking for a motivated Engineering Intern to join our team and get real-world experience designing, testing, and improving physical products that are deployed on roadways across North America.
About the Role
As our Engineering Intern, you'll work directly with our Engineering team supporting the design, testing, and continuous improvement of Radarsign's radar speed signs, RRFBs, and related traffic safety hardware. This is a great opportunity for a student interested in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering to gain hands-on experience with a company that designs and builds physical, solar-powered electronic products from the ground up.
What You'll Do
- Support design and testing of radar sensors, solar/battery power systems, and enclosure hardware
- Assist with prototyping, bench testing, and field testing of new and existing products
- Help troubleshoot product performance issues and document root-cause findings
- Support compliance and certification efforts (e.g., MASH, MUTCD, ISO 9001:2015)
- Assist with CAD modeling, drawings, and revisions for mechanical components
- Support firmware/electrical testing alongside engineering staff, as applicable
- Help maintain engineering documentation, spec sheets, and bills of materials (BOMs)
- Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, and Quality teams on design-for-manufacturability improvements
- Assist with First Article Inspection (FAI) and quality testing protocols
- Take on ad hoc engineering projects as assigned
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable with CAD software, basic circuit analysis, or embedded systems concepts (exposure a plus, not required)
- Clear communicator who works well in a team environment
- Interest in hardware design, embedded electronics, or manufacturing engineering
- Ability to commit to a part-time or full-time schedule for the semester
- No prior professional experience required — we're looking for curiosity and a strong work ethic
Why Intern at Radarsign
- Hands-on experience with a real engineering team designing physical, field-deployed products — not just busywork
- Exposure to the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping to manufacturing and certification
- Mentorship from experienced engineers and technical leaders
- A close-knit, collaborative team environment
- The chance to see your contributions have a direct impact on roadway safety nationwide
