Reports to: Director of Career and Technology Center
General Summary: To provide students of Sikeston R-6 Schools educational instruction that will Facilitates meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively supports all facets of the learning environment.
Essential Functions:
- Acts as the responsible agent for the direct instruction of students and is knowledgeable of the subject(s) they are assigned to teach.
- Maintains clear and up to date lesson plans.
- Conducts assigned activities from the administration, in conformity with the approved policies of the Board of Education.
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
- Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies and building and department procedures.
- Participates in curriculum development and improvement and revision of course outlines for the classes he/she teaches.
- Makes effective use of planning time. Observes designated working hours per the job assignment and uniqueness of each assignment.
- Differentiate instruction for individual students based on their unique learning needs.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Continues professional growth through participation in developmental opportunities.
- Performs campus supervision as needed or directed by supervisor
- Attends staff meetings and serve on staff committees as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned at the request of the director.
- Participates cooperatively with the director in performance evaluations as stated in the district's policies/procedures.
- Ensure shop safety and cleanliness and abide by safety policies. Identify safety hazards and report unsafe conditions to the director.
- Schedule and arrange for outsourcing of repairs if necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to handle various tools
Qualifications:
- Education level - Bachelor's degree or professional auto body experience
- Certification or Licensure - A) Valid Missouri driver's license. B) Appropriate and current Missouri Teaching Certificate or wellness to obtain Missouri Alternative Teacher Certification
- Experience Desired - Successful teaching experience in related field preferred, experience in automotive field.
- Other requirements - Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, time management, and telephone skills. Computer knowledge and assistive technology.
- Physical Requirements/ Environmental Conditions- Requires prolonged sitting and standing; requires stooping, bending, reaching and lifting; requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials; must work in stressful and hectic environments; requires the ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions; may require some travel; requires physical and emotional endurance; must be able to work long and irregular hours; and requires regular and consistent attendance and physical presence at the job.
