Classroom Teacher

Ahadu Christian Academy is a brand-new K–5 Christian school opening in August 2026 in Silver Spring, Maryland. We are building the school around six core values — faithfulness, integrity, excellence, service, innovation, and belonging — and around the conviction that the heart of every great school is a great teacher.

Our multi-age classrooms use Singapore Math and Singapore Science paired with Finnish-inspired pedagogy: long uninterrupted work blocks, frequent movement breaks, and small-group guidance rather than front-of-room lecture.

About the role

We are hiring Classroom Teachers for Grades 2–5 who love Christ, love children, and love teaching. You will own the daily life of your multi-age classroom — planning, instruction, classroom community, family communication, and the spiritual formation woven through it all. Ahadu teachers are mentors, mediators, and motivators, accountable first for their impact on students' faith and character, and then for the rigor and joy of academic learning.

What you'll do

• Plan and deliver daily lessons that are engaging, age-appropriate, and grounded in Ahadu's curriculum (Singapore Math, Singapore Science, Bible & Christian Studies, ELA, Social Studies)
• Create a safe, orderly, joyful classroom where every child is known, and every child grows
• Track student progress through portfolios, rubric-based project grading, and standardized benchmarks
• Communicate regularly and honestly with families
• Collaborate with the Head of School and fellow teachers to shape our opening-year practices
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, chapel, and school events
• Uphold Ahadu's policies, Christian identity, and expectations for student conduct

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
• Demonstrated classroom teaching experience
• Strong classroom management and instructional skills
• Commitment to Ahadu's mission and Christian identity
• Ability to complete pre-employment requirements (Maryland CJIS criminal background check, state and national fingerprint checks, sex offender registry check, I-9 verification, official transcripts, and §6-113.2 employment history review — Ahadu supports candidates through this process)

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Education
• Maryland teaching certification
• Experience in private, faith-based, multi-age, or start-up school settings
• Familiarity with Singapore Math, Finnish pedagogy, or inquiry-based learning

Compensation and benefits

Annual salary $48,000–$58,000 (10-month contract, salary distributed over 12 months). Placement based on years of K–12 teaching experience and degree, per the ACA Salary Schedule. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance.
