Household Assistant — Independent Living Support [CLS/DSP]

Job Summary: Manage day-to-day household upkeep and provide hands-on support for clients' daily activities and community participation, including direct-support/community-living-support (DSP/CLS) type assistance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean assigned rooms and shared living spaces to a high standard, including deep-cleaning specific areas as directed
  • Assist with adaptive sports and recreational activities for clients with physical or developmental disabilities (e.g., wheelchair tennis), including preparing and packing adaptive equipment
  • Help clients with meal times, including light meal prep and snacks
  • Handle general household upkeep: laundry, tidying, sorting mail, monitoring and restocking pantry/household supplies, etc.
  • Rotate outdoor tasks: sweeping the garage, weeding garden beds, watering plants, light snow removal, etc. 
  • Drive clients to community outings, including library visits (selecting materials, checkout), grocery shopping, and other activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • No prior experience necessary — training provided

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in a health or human services field (e.g., occupational therapy, physical therapy, recreational therapy, social work, psychology, or related field)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods
  • Comfortable with an active, on-your-feet role indoors and outdoors

Work Environment:

  • Private household
  • Part-time, flexible around class schedule
  • Minimum one-year commitment, including school breaks and summer (year-round position)
