About Keiki Coders
Our mission is to inspire "Aha" learning moments!
We are a locally owned after-school and summer enrichment program dedicated to teaching coding and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) to students in grades K–8. We’ve taught over 1,100 students across Oʻahu and are growing our impact through hands-on, engaging, and creative learning experiences.
Summary
We’re looking for caring and enthusiastic part-time teachers to lead early elementary enrichment classes (K-5) at public and private schools across the island and primarily around Honolulu. This is a great role for anyone who loves working with young children and wants to make a positive impact through tech education — no coding experience required (we train you!).
Location:
Most programs are in the greater Honolulu metropolitan area. A few programs in Kailua/Kaneohe.
Compensation:
- $45 to $50 per 1 hour enrichment class.
- Semester long-commitment.
Duties
- Lead fun, hands-on classes in coding and STEAM subjects (curriculum provided)
- Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
- Manage classroom behavior with warmth and consistency
- Set up and pack up materials for each class session
- Communicate with school staff and Keiki Coders team
- Supervise student safety during class times (typically after-school hours)
Qualifications
- Experience working with young children (K–5) in any setting: teaching, tutoring, camps, etc.
- Passion for education, creativity, and inspiring kids
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Reliable transportation to get to assigned school sites
- College coursework, an associate’s degree or higher, or proof of certification through a local assessment that meets the requirements of the "Every Student Succeeds Act".
- Availability on at least two days between 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
- Ability to lift and carry 20-40 lbs. occasionally, with or without accommodations.
- Valid driver’s license or State ID.
- Must pass background check (DOE or private school requirements)
