Commitment: Approximately 8–10 hours per week for one academic term

Position Overview

INP is seeking a Community Partnerships & Outreach Intern to learn about relationship building between nonprofit organizations, schools, universities, family-serving organizations, healthcare professionals, and community programs.

The intern will support supervised outreach related to prevention-focused education, emotional intelligence, resilience, nervous system regulation, and relational well-being.

Learning Opportunities

The intern will learn how to:

• Map community resources and potential partnerships
• Conduct professional nonprofit outreach
• Develop partnership materials and contact strategies
• Understand the needs of schools and community organizations
• Track communications and relationship-development activities
• Support community presentations, events, and educational initiatives

Potential Activities

• Research schools, universities, nonprofits, and community organizations
• Help maintain a partnership and outreach database
• Prepare customized background summaries before outreach
• Assist with drafting introductory emails and informational materials
• Support scheduling and preparation for community meetings
• Help coordinate workshops, presentations, or outreach events
• Document follow-up needs under staff supervision

Interns will not independently negotiate partnerships, make commitments on behalf of INP, or communicate externally without appropriate supervision and approval.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• Professional, dependable, and organized
• Interest in psychology, education, public health, community engagement, or nonprofit work
• Comfortable researching organizations and initiating professional communication
• Familiarity with the San Diego community is helpful but not required

This is an educational, unpaid internship. Academic credit may be available when approved and arranged through the student’s educational institution. The internship does not guarantee future employment.
