Build Your Accounting Career Beyond the Desk
PMG / SealMaster is seeking a motivated accounting professional to join our Madison, NC manufacturing operation as a Senior Plant Accountant.
Despite the title, you do not need to have previously held a “Senior Accountant” or “Plant Accountant” position to be considered. We are open to candidates who are earlier in their careers but have strong accounting fundamentals, curiosity, initiative, and the desire to grow into broader financial responsibility.
This is an opportunity to learn how accounting connects directly to manufacturing, inventory, sales, purchasing, production, and day-to-day business operations. You will gain exposure to nearly every area of plant accounting while working closely with plant leadership and corporate finance.
The person previously supporting this function earned a promotion into a broader role, creating an opportunity for the next team member to develop toward future Plant Controller, Assistant Controller, or corporate finance responsibilities.
About PMG / SealMaster
Pavement Maintenance Group is an industry leader in the production and distribution of pavement preservation and maintenance products. As the largest SealMaster franchisee, PMG manufactures and distributes sealcoating and pavement maintenance materials through a growing network of manufacturing plants and service centers.
Our Madison facility manufactures and distributes products throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Because this is a smaller plant environment, employees have visibility into the business, work directly with leadership, and have opportunities to take on meaningful responsibility.
What You Will Do
The Senior Plant Accountant will support the financial and operational activities of the Madison plant and surrounding region.
Responsibilities may include:
- Supporting month-end close and preparing journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial reports
- Reviewing plant results and investigating cost, inventory, production, or spending variances
- Supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash activity, collections, and customer or vendor account questions
- Maintaining accurate inventory records and participating in cycle counts and physical inventory
- Working with plant employees to research inventory differences and transaction errors
- Supporting fixed-asset records, additions, disposals, and audits
- Reviewing timecards and providing information needed for payroll processing
- Preparing sales, operations, margin, and plant-performance reports
- Assisting with budgets, forecasts, audits, and internal controls
- Working with sales and operations teams to understand how business activity affects financial results
- Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and documentation
- Learning PMG’s accounting systems, plant processes, products, and operating model
This Is Not a Desk-Only Accounting Role
The person in this position will spend time both in the office and within the plant or warehouse.
You may walk the facility, observe production, review inventory, work with operations employees, and help investigate discrepancies where they occur. The manufacturing environment may be noisy, warm, dusty, or less polished than a traditional corporate office.
During inventory or plant-support activities, the position may also require operating a forklift or similar equipment after receiving the appropriate training and certification.
You do not need previous forklift experience. You do need to be willing to learn, follow safety procedures, wear required PPE, and become involved in the operation beyond the numbers.
