Building Plan Reviewer I

The purpose of this position is to conduct field inspections for new construction, installations, alterations and additions to existing residential and commercial properties to ensure compliance with existing standards, current adopted codes, and ordinances. Investigates building and zoning complaints for appropriate permits and ordinance/code violations. Issues violation notices of code violations requiring corrective action, conducts follow up inspections, testifies at legal proceedings as needed regarding inspections/violations. Writes inspection reports, records inspection fees and notices, logs daily activities, responds to questions from the public, contractors, property owners and others regarding building inspections and Building Permit related questions. Employee in this position will be required to perform after hours and weekend inspections as well as be required to work both banks of the river as needed.  Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.
