Assistant Grounds Superintendent
The NAS Jacksonville Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department is seeking an Assistant Grounds Superintendent (Golf) at the Casa Linda Golf Course. This full-time role offers a competitive salary of $28.00 to $30.00 per hour and requires flexibility to work a varying schedule, including weekends and holidays. The selected candidate will directly assist the Golf Course Superintendent in maintaining a 27-hole, 275-acre complex, executing specialized tasks across the greens, tees, fairways, roughs, practice ranges, and pump house systems. Daily supervisory responsibilities involve leading a team consisting of Tractor Operate Leaders, fifteen Tractor Operators, a Mechanic Leader, and a Motor Vehicle Operator. Additionally, the assistant superintendent will oversee the course's Hazardous Material and Hazardous Waste Program, manage agronomic testing by executing soil samples, calibrate sprayers or sprinklers for precise chemical application, track inventories, and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Golf Course Maintenance: Assist the Superintendent with the daily upkeep, turf health, and irrigation management of a 27-hole, 275-acre complex.
- Team Supervision: Lead a grounds crew by managing training, assigning daily tasks, approving leave, and evaluating employee performance.
- Chemical Management: Oversee the Hazardous Material Program, including the precise selection, calibration, and application of pesticides and fertilizers.
- Logistics & Administration: Manage department budgets, maintain safety records (SDS), and track inventories for all grounds equipment and facility materials.
