Work Study Student Employee- HR Operations assistant (Fall 2026)

Looking for an on-campus job where you can gain real-world professional experience? Join the Texas State University Human Resources team and learn more about HR operations, employee records, onboarding, and HR information systems. 

No previous Human Resources experience is required. Training will be provided, and students from all majors are encouraged to apply. 

Pay Rate: $12 per hour 
Flexible Work Schedule: Up to 25 hours per week, based on class schedule, work-study eligibility, and departmental needs. Hours are available Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Assist with Form I-9 processing, employment verifications, personnel file requests, and other employee onboarding and HR operations activities. 
  • Scan, organize, and maintain electronic employee records. 
  • Monitor emails, answer phones, and help respond to routine questions. 
  • Assist with basic login, account setup, and system-access requests. 
  • Support general HRIS and HR Operations duties and special projects. 
  • Handle employee information with professionalism and confidentiality. 

What We’re Looking For 

  • Dependable and able to maintain a consistent work schedule. 
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and willing to learn. 
  • Comfortable communicating with employees, students, and university departments. 
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. 
  • Able to maintain confidentiality when working with employee information. 
  • Applicants must have an approved work-study award for Fall 2026. A signed confidentiality agreement is required. 

During the fall and spring semesters, students may work a maximum of 25 hours per week across all Texas State employment assignments. International students are limited to 20 hours per week across all assignments. Students may not work during scheduled class times.

Student employees are paid twice a month for hours worked and will receive feedback from their supervisor at the end of each long semester.
