Children's Ministry Assistant

BASIC FUNCTION:

To provide support to the Children’s Minister in weekly operations, in events and administration. To be a champion for the goals and mission of NSBC and NSBC Kids.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Reach and disciple children as assigned through personal example, counsel, programs, and events.
  • Support, promote and encourage Sunday School, children’s education, preschool worship care, preschool education, and Wednesday choirs and lessons. Serving at the Children’s Welcome desk checking in using our Realm check-in system and welcoming families. Printing and distributing Sunday School material quarterly.
  • Assist in scheduling, coordinating, and planning Preschool Care. Printing the Children’s Worship Guides weekly and gathering material for the Preschool care during worship services. 
  • Under the direction of the Children’s Minister, consult with the Children’s Team for support, ideas, and volunteer engagement.
  • Aid in determining, planning, coordinating, and overseeing children’s events.
  • Helping with ministry needs as directed by the Children’s Minister.
  • Work in conjunction with other Administrative Support Staff as needed to support ministry operations and communication.

     

CONFIDENTIALITY.  Understands the high degree of confidentiality required in a church ministry environment.  Protects sensitive information of church members and staff. 

 

RELATIONSHIPS:  The immediate supervisor of the Children's Ministry Assistant is the Children’s Minister. The Assistant will work with lay leadership elected to the Preschool and Children's Team and other volunteers. It is essential that the Assistant communicates with all other staff members to provide optimal assistance for the effective use of the time and resources of North Shelby Baptist Church.
 

COMPENSATION:  The Assistant will a part-time NON-EXEMPT hourly paid employee of North Shelby Baptist Church.  Hourly employees will clock in and out at designated work times each day. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The Children's Ministry Assistant will have or gain basic knowledge, experience, and skill to conduct Ministry to children effectively and efficiently. The Children's Ministry Assistant will provide periodic reports to the Children’s Minister regarding progress in the performance of these responsibilities.
