Facilities - Sustainability Engagement Intern

Job Responsibilities: 

The Sustainability Engagement Intern will work closely with the Sustainability Coordinator to Support various initiatives and engagement events on campus that support the College’s wider ranging and long-term Sustainability goals. 

 

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Provide general support to the Office of Sustainability 
  • Plan events such as Sustainability Fair in collaboration with the Sustainability Coordinator and campus stakeholders 
  • Organize and host educational workshops on campus 
  • Facilitate collaboration between the Office of Sustainability and student/campus organizations to further campus sustainability initiatives 
  • Project management, communications, campaign development/implementation, and other events and projects as needed 
  • Maintain existing Sustainability Initiatives, such as Motley Punch cards, Campus Maps for Edible Campus and Natives 
  • Manage Personal Sustainability Projects 

 

Operational & Administrative 

  • Ensure timesheets are submitted on time for approval 
  • Attend check-in meetings on a weekly/bi-weekly basis as determined by your Supervisor 
  • Maintains accurate records as directed by your Supervisor 
  • Meets all administrative deadlines as directed by your Supervisor 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be enrolled at Scripps College 
  • Must be enrolled as a Scripps Student and on campus for the entirety of the 2026-27 Academic Year 
  • Has a strong interest in sustainability 
  • Prior experience leading a campus sustainability initiative, or if not, at least strong familiarity with sustainability concepts and experience leading other types of projects or initiatives. 
  • Able to collaborate with diverse stakeholders including students, staff, faculty, and external community members 
  • Excellent writing skills and organized note taking 
  • Communicates proactively and effectively with supervisor 
  • Manages time effectively and follows through to complete projects

 

 Desired, but not required, Qualifications 

  • Experience with creating newsletters, writing articles, or other communications work 
  • Experience with managing social media for a club, organization, or company

 

Hours: 8-10/wk

Hourly Rate: $16.90
