Facilities - Sustainability Engagement Intern

Job Responsibilities:
The Sustainability Engagement Intern will work closely with the Sustainability Coordinator to Support various initiatives and engagement events on campus that support the College’s wider ranging and long-term Sustainability goals.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide general support to the Office of Sustainability
- Plan events such as Sustainability Fair in collaboration with the Sustainability Coordinator and campus stakeholders
- Organize and host educational workshops on campus
- Facilitate collaboration between the Office of Sustainability and student/campus organizations to further campus sustainability initiatives
- Project management, communications, campaign development/implementation, and other events and projects as needed
- Maintain existing Sustainability Initiatives, such as Motley Punch cards, Campus Maps for Edible Campus and Natives
- Manage Personal Sustainability Projects
Operational & Administrative
- Ensure timesheets are submitted on time for approval
- Attend check-in meetings on a weekly/bi-weekly basis as determined by your Supervisor
- Maintains accurate records as directed by your Supervisor
- Meets all administrative deadlines as directed by your Supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled at Scripps College
- Must be enrolled as a Scripps Student and on campus for the entirety of the 2026-27 Academic Year
- Has a strong interest in sustainability
- Prior experience leading a campus sustainability initiative, or if not, at least strong familiarity with sustainability concepts and experience leading other types of projects or initiatives.
- Able to collaborate with diverse stakeholders including students, staff, faculty, and external community members
- Excellent writing skills and organized note taking
- Communicates proactively and effectively with supervisor
- Manages time effectively and follows through to complete projects
Desired, but not required, Qualifications
- Experience with creating newsletters, writing articles, or other communications work
- Experience with managing social media for a club, organization, or company
Hours: 8-10/wk
Hourly Rate: $16.90
