Summary
New Student Financial Aid Counselors report to the Executive Director of New Student Financial Aid in Admissions. This position is responsible for processing financial aid documents, recruiting prospective students, working with prospective students and their families in matters related to financial aid and college costs, answering questions and serving as a point of contact for financial aid information. This position is a full-time exempt position that works year-round on campus in Nashville, TN. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
Collaboratively work with the Director of Admissions for New Student Financial Aid and the Office of Financial Aid to effectively communicate with prospective students and families, walking them through the financial aid process, including institutional scholarships, state/federal grants and loans.
Maintain timely, accurate records and files for prospective students’ financial aid, including accurate, thorough documentation in the CRM and ERP systems.
Communicate financial aid data and prospective student information to the Office of Financial Aid.
Counsel with prospective students and parents, and make timely contact with prospective students and families, both individually and as a part of the campus visit experience.
Host daily campus visit guests, working collaboratively with the Hospitality Coordinator to provide a VIP experience for every prospective student and family who visits campus.
Regularly contact applicants who apply to the university to assist them through the financial aid process.
Assist in the tracking, oversight and reporting of the discount rate for the university.
Represent TNU at college fairs, churches, high schools, community colleges, camps and other recruiting events.
Assist with Admissions events
Assist the Executive Director of New Student Financial Aid as needed and work collaboratively with the other team members to accomplish team goals.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required
Public speaking skills preferred but not required
Ability to travel as needed. Ability to work on campus Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with some evenings/weekends required as needed.
At least one evening required weekly with the ability to adjust daytime schedule.
Works effectively with diverse populations
Analyzes, strategizes, and solves problems in order to make independent evaluative judgments.
Performs complex tasks and prioritizes multiple tasks with skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and databases
Experience in higher education environment as an employee preferred but not required
Prior experience with Trevecca Nazarene University preferred but not required
Sales background preferred but not required
Strong attention to detail required, including when processing large amounts of data.
Customer service experience preferred
Travel is required for this position. As such, a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation are required.
In order to be eligible for mileage reimbursement, must carry personal vehicle insurance that meets minimum coverage amounts as designated by the university.
