Entry-Level Civil Engineer

Salary range:    $52,202-$95,630 DOE/DOQ

This position reports to the City Engineer and assists in the planning, design, and inspection of engineering and construction projects in the City. 

Duties include, but not limited to, preparing site work designs with Auto CAD including roadway and stormwater projects and inspecting projects to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and accepted engineering practice. Performs MS4 Annual Outfall inspections.

Successful applicants will have:

  • Through knowledge of the theory, principles and, practice of civil engineering as applied to the development and construction of roadway projects
  • Ability to plan roadway and sidewalk projects and prepare related designs, estimates, and specifications
  • Ability to perform difficult engineering computations and to make comprehensive recommendations on engineering problems
  • Extensive skill in computer aided design software (AutoCAD, Civil3D) with experience preparing plan-sheets and drawings

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or relevant field required. Must have a valid driver’s license. 

Must have the following certifications/designations or have the ability to obtain them within one year of start date:

  • Engineer-in-Training Designation
  • OSHA-10
  • DEQ Erosion & Sediment Control Inspector and Plan Reviewer certifications 
  • DEQ Stormwater Inspector and Plan Reviewer certifications
