Forward Deployed Product Manager (New Grad or Early Career)

Juspay is building the foundation for global payments infrastructure that powers merchants and banks. We're looking for builders who'd rather sit in front of a customer with a terminal open than behind a roadmap doc - starting with whoever's in front of them right now.

Juspay is also driving its own AI roadmap, beginning with self-hosting leading open-source models to provide org-wide, unlimited access via unified APIs. Building on this foundation, Juspay is developing a proprietary enterprise AI platform designed to power advanced AI agents and facilitate seamless collaboration between teams and these agents.

A product role with an AI-driven, hands-on, customer-facing, technical core.

About the role

Juspay's payments infrastructure is trusted by enterprise merchants, banks, and platforms globally. We're early in our US commercial buildout, and the people who join now define how the product is positioned, integrated, and extended.

As a Forward Deployed Product Manager, you're embedded with prospective and new customers - from first technical conversation through their first live transaction in production - and you build alongside them. You prototype the solution yourself: fast working demos, new features, and adaptations built on top of our core platform using agentic loops producing high-quality output. Then you translate what you learn from building them into product specs the core team or agents can act on. You're not writing a PRD in isolation and handing it off - you're prototyping with agents, in the room with the customer's engineering and business stakeholders, and in the repo writing and reviewing what ships.

You own the customer-facing layer of the platform end to end. You build things on top of our core engine - fast prototypes, new features, and adaptations that turn a prospect's architecture, edge cases, and constraints into a working transaction flow.

This is not a project-management or client-success role, and it's not a spec-and-hand-off PM role. You build in real time, you learn with your US growth team to make product judgment calls in front of the customer, and you carry it back into the core product while leveraging existing agentic workflows or building new ones.

What you'll own

Hands-on build and prototyping

  • Prototype the solution with your customers - stand up fast working demos and new capabilities on top of our core platform, not a spec for someone else to build later
  • Build the features and adaptations on top of the platform that get a prospect's first live transaction flowing
  • Debug prototype and transaction-flow issues in real time, in front of the customer, and get to root cause without waiting on backend teams
  • What you build for the first customer becomes the reference pattern - and often a core feature - the next ten integrations follow

Customer discovery and requirements definition

  • Convert a prospect's payment stack, edge cases, and compliance constraints into clear, buildable requirements
  • Identify where a prospect's ask reflects a real product gap versus a one-off request, and make the call on what gets built
  • Feed what you learned building the prototype straight back into the core roadmap

Cross-functional execution through go-live

  • Once a deal closes, stay engaged as the product owner for that account - prioritize scope, negotiate tradeoffs with the customer, and keep core engineering aligned on what matters and why
  • Early customers define the quality bar for everything that follows; your judgment here matters

AI-powered capabilities

  • Juspay is shipping AI agents into its payments infrastructure for observability, optimization, and A/B experimentation
  • Own the early product definition for how these agents show up in customer environments - what they do, how they're configured, what "good" looks like - and drive the feedback loop back to core engineering
  • Product decisions you make here help us win deals, pilots and also get upstreamed into the core product

Product feedback to engineering

  • You're among the early product hires outside Juspay's Bangalore team, in a small US team in the SF Bay Area - so you're often the first to build new features. Surface rigidity, design flaws and unclear positioning - with the specificity that only comes from having built new capabilities on the existing product.
  • The bar: could you convince/unblock a competent engineer/designer to understand what to build and why, without asking you a lot of questions?

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Applied Math, or Engineering
  • 0–2 years of experience in product management, solutions/sales engineering, technical consulting, or software engineering - strong new grads with internship depth in systems, infrastructure, or integration work are actively encouraged to apply
  • You build, not just spec: you can prototype against a REST API and SDK, wire up a working demo, and debug it when it breaks - without hand-holding
  • Comfortable with query languages and scripting; you'll be poking at data, calling APIs, and reading logs directly, every day
  • Comfortable reading API documentation, error logs, and technical architecture diagrams well enough to hold your own with a backend engineer
  • Able to translate technical tradeoffs into business language, and business priorities into technical requirements, in the same afternoon
  • Comfortable using LLMs as build, thinking, and drafting accelerators - we use them internally and expect the same from this role

Bonus points

  • Prior internship or project experience in payments, fintech, or infrastructure products
  • Experience reading payment processor documentation or API specs of complex systems
  • Shipped a prototype, feature, connector, or developer-facing tool - at work, in a hackathon, or on your own
  • Developer community involvement, even as a contributor of documentation or issues

Onboarding and growth

We know payments infrastructure is a deep domain and we're not expecting you to arrive knowing it. You'll ramp alongside our Bangalore engineering team, who have spent years building and operating this system at scale, and alongside our product managers. Expect hands-on onboarding, a dedicated technical mentor for your first 90 days, and a learning budget for courses.

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
  • 401(k) plan
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Annual learning budget
  • Dedicated technical mentor, first 90 days
  • The prototypes and features you build ship to production for real merchants and banks - and into our demos, product playground or open-source payments repo (~400 top repos globally on Github)

Additional information

Work authorization: Authorization to work in the U.S. is required. OPT/STEM-OPT candidates welcome; we cannot sponsor H-1B/employment-based visas at this time.

Location & travel: This is an in person role in our San Mateo office. Because you're embedded with customers, expect 25% company-sponsored travel to customer sites, within the US
