Gallery Manager
Kennedy Contemporary is seeking a personable, detail-oriented Gallery Manager to join our team and serve as the welcoming face of our gallery. This multifaceted role is ideal for someone who thrives in a creative environment, enjoys engaging with the public, and is equally comfortable handling administrative and operational tasks behind the scenes.
The Gallery Manager must work the following hours: Tuesday - Saturday from 10am to 4pm. There will be additional hours provided depending on the week, including opening exhibition nights and running errands or visiting a collector's home.
Key Responsibilities
Front of House & Visitor Experience
- Greet and assist walk-in visitors with warmth and professionalism
- Keep the gallery space tidy and welcoming
- Respond to incoming emails and phone inquiries
- Troubleshoot and organize as needed to keep the gallery running smoothly
Marketing & Communications
- Schedule and post content to Instagram/Facebook through Later
- Write newsletters and analyze performance metrics
- Design promotional creatives using Canva and/or Photoshop
- Produce printed materials including artwork notecards
- Coordinate with PR contacts and support press outreach
Client & Sales Support
- Assist in cultivating leads and identifying potential collectors
- Communicate with artists regarding exhibition and operational needs
- Participate in art selection and exhibition planning (with final decisions made by the gallery owner)
- Follow up with past buyers and prospects
- Support invoicing and payment processing as needed
Operations & Inventory
- Ensure inventory records and website listings are current
- Input and update artwork records in ArtLogic
- Wrap artworks for delivery or shipment
- Coordinate logistics with art shippers or handlers
Event Coordination
- Coordinate catering and refreshments for gallery events
- Manage invitations and RSVPs
- Assist with exhibition openings and post-event follow-ups
- Provide hands-on support during events
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated and proactive
- Proficiency with tools like Canva, Instagram, Flodesk, and ArtLogic a plus
- Must be experienced in Photoshop
- Experience in a gallery, museum, or creative business environment is preferred
- Interest in contemporary art and design is a bonus
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
