Fall Intern- Social Media Specialist- Tourism

The Social Media Specialist Intern will support the Tourism team by assisting with marketing initiatives, customer engagement, and social media management. Responsibilities include capturing photo and video content, creating reels and other digital media, and supporting a variety of tourism marketing efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a comprehensive audit and reorganization of the department’s digital asset library to improve accessibility, brand consistency, and internal efficiency across marketing initiatives.
- Create engaging social media content, including post copy, reel concepts, and short-form video ideas. Capture photography and video at events, parks, and attractions to help tell the destination’s story.
- Assist in developing seasonal and campaign-based content calendars aligned with tourism marketing priorities.
- Draft blog articles and website copy that highlight local experiences, inspire visitation, and support search visibility.
- Support website content updates and redesign planning through content audits, competitive research, and user experience feedback.
- Evaluate current social media and digital platforms and provide research-based recommendations to improve engagement, reach, and brand visibility.
- Research competitor destinations and summarize trends, best practices, and emerging tourism marketing strategies.
- Assist with the development and refresh of in-house marketing assets, including graphics, templates, and digital resources.
- Help organize user-generated content and support outreach for content permissions when appropriate.
- Develop and present a final capstone project or presentation highlighting strategic recommendations or a campaign concept created during the internship.
- Contribute to additional marketing and communications projects as opportunities arise.
