Role Description
This Academic appointment is for the Fall and Spring semester(s), beginning 08/17/2026 and ending 05/23/2027. GAs may be reappointed from semester to semester or year to year and any reappointment is contingent on the availability of funding, performance, and Institute needs. Applications are due by July 22nd, 2026, individuals will be notified about their status by July 24th, and interviews will take place July 27th and 28th. Final decisions will be made by July 29th, 2026.
The specific duties and responsibilities of this position include:
- Using working knowledge of current LGBTQIA2S+ scholarship
- Using working knowledge of diverse campus and/or local communities
- Using working knowledge to work in a team atmosphere and independently
- Using working knowledge to collaborate on research, education and other initiatives across the UA campus and beyond
- Using working knowledge to manage listserv and webpage management (familiarity with Constant Contact and Drupal helpful)
- Using working knowledge for social media campaigning
- Using working knowledge to engage in scientific paper production and grant writing
- Using working knowledge excellent oral and written communication skills on behalf of the LGBTQ+I
The Graduate Assistantship is a quarter-time position, commonly referred to as 0.25 FTE (full time equivalency). The stipend is $12,827 (based on the percent of the appointment time at an annualized rate of $51,308). The applicant will receive the stipend (preferably by direct deposit) through the University of Arizona’s UAccess Employee system every two weeks.
Further details of the position will be discussed during the interview process. The applicant may be expected to participate in training prior to the start date.
Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in a University of Arizona graduate program with a minimum of 6 graduate units.
- Must demonstrate an interest in LGBTQIA2S+ individuals with diverse communities. Candidate should be exceptionally well-organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as oral and written communication skills.
- Must meet a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Completion of ALL required new hire documents must be turned in to HR Representative prior to start date.
- Failure to meet requirements may result in a rescinded offer and/or ineligibility to be considered for a GRA position.
