The Infrastructure Behind AI Has to Be Built by Someone. This Summer, It's You.

Wisconsin is in the middle of a $30B+ data center and AI infrastructure buildout, and none of it runs without critical power, critical cooling, and monitoring systems designed and specified correctly. Access is the engineering-driven rep firm making that happen: we sell and support the power, HVAC, and monitoring infrastructure behind hospitals, manufacturers, data centers, utilities, schools, and public safety facilities across the region.

This internship puts you in the room where that work actually happens, not shadowing from the corner, but sitting alongside our sales engineers and application engineers as they read specs, select equipment, and solve real customer problems.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Work live projects — help review drawings, specs, and equipment schedules for active jobs, not simulated case studies
  • Build real deliverables — assist with product selections, takeoffs, proposals, and submittals that go to actual customers
  • Sit in the room — join customer, contractor, and manufacturer conversations where technical decisions get made
  • See the full deal cycle — from first customer conversation through quoting, selection, and delivery
  • Shadow across functions — spend time with sales, application engineering, and service so you understand how the pieces connect
  • Contribute, not just observe — bring ideas on how we can serve customers better; we want input, not just note-taking

What Success Looks Like by End of Summer

You'll be able to read a set of specs and equipment schedules and explain what's being asked for. You'll have contributed to at least one live customer proposal. And you'll walk away understanding how technical knowledge turns into business value, a skill that applies whether you end up in engineering, sales, or project management.

Who We're Looking For

Students pursuing a degree in:

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Architectural, Biomedical, or Computer Engineering
  • Construction Management
  • Other technical or engineering-adjacent programs

You'll do well here if you bring:

  • Genuine curiosity — you ask “why” and want to understand systems, not just tasks
  • Comfort talking to people — customers, contractors, and engineers, not just classmates
  • Follow-through — you close loops without needing reminders
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • A team-first attitude and a willingness to jump in

Nice to have, not required: exposure to AutoCAD, or CRM/estimating tools.

Why Access
