Public Relations and Copywriting Intern Fall 2026

Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida has a sole mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Started in 1983 by the Plantation Junior Woman's Club, the Southern Florida chapter has grown from granting a wish every 180 days to granting a wish every 14 hours. In its 43-year history, the organization has granted more than 15,000 wishes. Make-A-Wish Southern Florida serves children and families in 22 Florida counties in Southeast and Southwest Florida, the Tampa Bay and Suncoast regions and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Public Relations Intern will support the Brand Advancement Team at Make-A-Wish Southern Florida by assisting with brand messaging to media and storytelling efforts that help amplify the organization’s mission. This role includes helping draft and compile press releases, packaging content for both traditional media and social media channels, copywriting for various projects, and supporting media outreach initiatives. This internship provides hands-on experience working in a collaborative, mission-driven non-profit environment while gaining insight into a career in public relations and communications.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and has strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience or interest in research, storytelling, and brand messaging is strongly encouraged. Familiarity with social media platforms and an understanding of how PR intersects with digital and traditional media is a plus.

This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related fields with an emphasis on writing and media relations, though all majors are welcome to apply. Interns must be able to work from one of our regional offices (Miami, Southwest Florida, Suncoast, or Tampa).
