Electrical Engineering TA, Grader, Lab Assistant

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is accepting applications for a pool of qualified undergraduate and graduate students interested in serving as Teaching Assistants (TAs), Graders, and Laboratory Assistants. Applicants selected for this pool may be considered for one or more positions throughout the academic year as departmental instructional needs arise.
This posting is intended to create a centralized applicant pool. Submission of an application does not guarantee employment. Individual faculty members will review applicants and select candidates based on course needs, qualifications, availability, and funding.
Possible Responsibilities
Assignments vary by course and instructor and may include one or more of the following:
- Grade homework, quizzes, laboratory reports, exams, and projects using instructor-provided rubrics.
- Assist with laboratory setup, operation, and cleanup.
- Support students during laboratory sessions.
- Hold office hours or review sessions.
- Answer student questions regarding course material and assignments.
- Assist with Canvas course management and grading.
- Maintain accurate grading records.
- Perform other instructional support duties as assigned by the course instructor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Utah State University undergraduate or graduate student.
- Strong academic performance in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Successfully completed coursework relevant to the assigned course.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned a B+ or higher in the course (or equivalent coursework).
- Previous experience as a TA, grader, tutor, or laboratory assistant.
- Experience working with laboratory equipment or engineering software.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to students.
Work Schedule
Hours vary by assignment and may range from a few hours per week to approximately 20 hours per week, depending on course enrollment, responsibilities, available funding, and university employment guidelines.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on university pay guidelines, position type, experience, and available funding.
