Teacher Assistant / Paraprofessional

Working closely with teachers, students, and families, you will help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment where every child can thrive. Your support will contribute to students' academic achievement, social-emotional development, and positive behavior while providing individualized assistance to meet diverse learning needs. Responsibilities

  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans across subjects such as literacy, math, and social skills, ensuring activities are accessible and engaging for all students
  • Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior, promoting routines, and maintaining a safe learning environment
  • Work directly with children to support their individual learning needs, including those with disabilities, through tailored activities and one-on-one assistance
  • Help prepare instructional materials, set up classroom spaces, and organize educational resources aligned with curriculum standards
  • Foster effective communication with students by using clear instructions, visual aids, and adaptive strategies to enhance understanding and participation
  • Monitor student progress during lessons and provide feedback to teachers to inform ongoing curriculum development and individualized support plans
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and vibrant learning environment. 

 

Experience

  • Prior experience working with children is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with instructional best practices, behavior management techniques, and classroom management strategies is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.
  • Willingness to work with students needing acceleration or extra support according to classroom teacher’s instructions is required.
  • Strong organizational skills combined with patience and adaptability are essential 
  • Working knowledge of computers and common software applications is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Verbal and written English communication skills are required.  Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is a plus.
  • A willingness to learn, grow professionally, and adapt to the school's curriculum, technology, schedule, and instructional practices is required.
