Founding Radio Programming Intern

Founding Radio Programming & Content Intern

Press Play Radio

Build the Future of Radio.

At Press Play, we're building something bigger than a streaming platform.

We're creating an entirely new music experience where artists and fans build deeper, more meaningful connections through the music they love.

We believe music is more than something you listen to. It's something you experience, share, and become part of.

Press Play Radio is the front door to that experience, introducing listeners to incredible music while connecting them with artist stories, exclusive interviews, community, and experiences that simply don't exist anywhere else.

We're intentionally keeping our founding team small. Every Founding Intern will help shape the direction of Press Play Radio and leave a lasting mark on what this company becomes. This isn't simply an internship. It's an opportunity to help build a media company from the ground up.

We're looking for someone who wants more than a line on a résumé. We're looking for someone who wants to help build the future of music.

The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity for a motivated high school student, college student, technical school student, or recent graduate who dreams of working in radio, music programming, broadcasting, podcasting, journalism, digital media, or the music industry.

Unlike many internships where you'll spend your time observing from the sidelines, you'll work directly alongside the founders of Press Play and play an active role in helping shape the future of Press Play Radio.

Your ideas won't disappear into meetings. If they're great, we'll build them.

As Press Play grows, this position has the opportunity to grow with it.

What You'll Do

As a Founding Radio Programming & Content Intern, you'll help shape both the sound and the future of Press Play Radio by:

• Helping define the sound, personality, and identity of Press Play Radio.

• Discovering emerging artists and hidden musical gems across every genre.

• Curating playlists and specialty programming that introduce listeners to music they've never heard before.

• Researching artists, music trends, industry news, and emerging opportunities.

• Writing artist spotlights, editorial articles, programming notes, and music features.

• Editing audio for interviews, artist features, promotional content, and special programming.

• Assisting with music scheduling, programming organization, and metadata management.

• Helping coordinate artist interviews, live sessions, and special programming events.

• Working directly with the founders to develop new shows, listener experiences, and programming concepts.

• Helping recruit and mentor future radio interns as Press Play continues to grow.

• Bringing new ideas to the table and helping turn them into reality.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for builders.

People who don't wait to be told what to do.

People who notice opportunities, solve problems, take initiative, and genuinely love music enough to build something around it.

You may be a great fit if you:

• Are currently in high school, college, technical school, or recently graduated.

• Love discovering music across every genre.

• Have an interest in radio, broadcasting, music business, journalism, podcasting, content creation, or digital media.

• Are organized, dependable, and detail oriented.

• Communicate well both verbally and in writing.

• Enjoy working independently while taking ownership of your projects.

• Are comfortable wearing multiple hats in a startup environment.

• Are curious, creative, and constantly looking for better ideas.

• Can work with minimal supervision while managing your responsibilities.

Experience with audio editing, playlist curation, podcasting, broadcasting, social media, music production, journalism, school radio, or content creation is certainly a plus. However, enthusiasm, initiative, creativity, and a willingness to learn matter far more than prior experience.

Technology & Skills You'll Gain

Throughout your internship, you'll gain hands on experience using modern tools and technologies such as:

• AI assisted content creation and research.

• Audio editing software.

• Playlist programming systems.

• Digital publishing platforms.

• Social media content creation.

• Interview production.

• Music metadata management.

• Collaborative project management tools.

• Google Workspace and other productivity platforms.

Startup Culture

Joining Press Play means joining a true startup.

Things move quickly.

Ideas become reality.

Roles evolve.

Everyone contributes beyond their job description because that's what building a company requires.

We're looking for people who enjoy creating something that doesn't exist yet.

If you're looking for someone to hand you a checklist every morning, this probably isn't the right opportunity.

If you're excited by ownership, creativity, problem solving, and making a visible impact, you'll fit right in.

Networking Opportunities

As Press Play continues to grow, you'll have opportunities to interact with recording artists, managers, publicists, music executives, producers, broadcasters, and other professionals throughout the entertainment industry.

You'll gain firsthand exposure to how the music business really works while building valuable professional relationships along the way.

What You'll Gain

• Real startup experience from the ground floor.

• Leadership opportunities rarely available to interns.

• Professional portfolio pieces you can showcase to future employers.

• Mentorship from company founders.

• Hands on experience in radio programming and digital media.

• Experience working with artists and music industry professionals.

• Professional references based on your performance.

• The opportunity to help build a nationally recognized music platform from its earliest days.

Schedule

This internship offers a flexible schedule designed around school and other commitments. Most interns can expect to contribute approximately 10 to 20 hours per week, depending on availability and current projects.

Compensation & Growth

This is currently an unpaid internship while Press Play is in its early startup stage.

As we secure additional funding, our intention is to transition key contributors into paid positions whenever possible.

As Press Play grows, exceptional founding team members who demonstrate leadership, long term commitment, and significant contributions may be invited to discuss future ownership or equity opportunities. Any such opportunity would depend on company growth, individual performance, and mutual agreement, and is not guaranteed.

More importantly, this internship offers the rare opportunity to build an impressive portfolio, develop meaningful leadership experience, work directly with company founders, and help create something that has the potential to reshape how artists and fans connect through music.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple.

Help artists and fans build deeper, more meaningful connections through music.

Every playlist we curate, every artist we introduce, every interview we produce, and every listener we reach helps create a platform where music becomes more than something people hear.

It becomes something people experience together.

If you're looking for a typical internship, this probably isn't it.

If you want to help build something people will be talking about for years to come, we'd love to meet you.
