Baptist Collegiate Ministry Intern

The Baptist Collegiate Ministry at William & Mary is dedicated to fostering a Christ-centered community on campus. The organization focuses on spiritual growth, service, leadership development, and creating meaningful connections among students. Located in Williamsburg, VA, the Baptist Collegiate Ministry supports and equips some of the brightest students in the nation as they explore faith, engage in worship, and build lasting relationships within a diverse collegiate environment.

 

Role Description

The Baptist Collegiate Ministry Internship is a part-time, on-site role based in Williamsburg, VA beginning August 10, 2026 through May 23, 2027.  The intern will assist in planning and leading ministry programs, coordinating events, fostering relationships with students, and providing mentorship and spiritual guidance. Candidates should demonstrate high initiative, consideration of vocational ministry, a passion for evangelism, and willingness to engage students in a public or one-on-one setting.  The intern will specifically invite young adults into Christian community through worship, outreach, hospitality, biblical discipleship, servant leadership development, mission service, and participation in local BGAV (Baptist General Association of VA) churches. A monthly stipend of $1,500 for 10 months forms the base of financial support. Fund raising to increase this stipend is encouraged. Free housing and utilities (valued at $1250 per month) in the Baptist Student Center adjacent to campus is required to perform custodial duties for the center. The intern is encouraged to pursue a seminary degree online while serving as intern, or possibly work part-time near campus to meet students.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building relationships and mentoring students
  • Experience in planning and creating engaging ministry events
  • Proficiency in leading Bible studies and facilitating spiritual discussions
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and adapt to the needs of a diverse student group
  • Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively
  • Commitment to personal spiritual growth and alignment with the mission and values of Baptist Collegiate Ministry and the Baptist General Association of Virginia
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Pursuit of a hybrid or online seminary degree in ministry, theology, or education is encouraged while working as intern, providing a ministry context while studying.
  • Prior experience in campus ministry or working with young adults is a plus.
