As a National Mental Health Corps Volunteer with Bridges of Hope, you will play a vital role in expanding access to mental health resources, reducing stigma, and strengthening community support systems. This opportunity is designed for someone who wants more than a job — someone who wants hands-on experience creating change, building relationships, and making a lasting impact.
Through training, outreach, program development, and community engagement, you will help bring mental health education and support services closer to the people who need them most.
What You’ll Do
As a Corps Member, you will:
- Become trained in evidence-based mental health interventions and use those skills to support community wellness initiatives.
- Create meaningful connections with community members by leading outreach efforts, educational events, workshops, and mental health awareness activities.
- Help expand access to mental health resources by developing partnerships with local organizations, providers, and community leaders.
- Support programs that promote mental wellness, reduce stigma, and encourage individuals to seek support.
- Assist with communications and outreach campaigns through social media, newsletters, flyers, presentations, and community engagement efforts.
- Help measure the impact of programs by collecting data, tracking outcomes, and contributing to program evaluation efforts.
- Support grant reporting and sustainability efforts that allow mental health programs to grow and reach more people.
- Collaborate with a passionate team committed to improving mental health access and strengthening communities.

Who We’re Looking For
First and foremost, we are looking for individuals who believe in the mission of the National Mental Health Corps and are passionate about expanding access to mental health support.

- Personal, academic, volunteer, or professional experience related to mental health topics.
- Understanding of mental health challenges, available resources, and the importance of reducing stigma.
- Compassion and respect for individuals experiencing mental health or substance use challenges.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt, problem-solve, and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-changing environment.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with diverse community partners.
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical service.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Ability to provide proof of U.S. citizenship.
- Applicants should also be comfortable participating in occasional evening and weekend service activities.
AmeriCorps Service Benefits
As a full-time National Mental Health Corps Member, you will:
- Complete 1,700 service hours over approximately 10 months (40 hours/week).
- Receive a $21,000 living stipend, paid biweekly in 22 equal installments.
- Earn a $7,395 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award after successful completion of service.
- Receive professional development, mentorship, and specialized mental health training.
- Gain valuable experience with a mission-driven organization focused on community impact.
Service Commitment
Full-time service positions begin in August 2026 (exact dates determined by the Host Site Supervisor). The service term is approximately 10 months.
