Financial Planning Intern

JOB DESCRIPTION:  

This job posting is for an intern position on the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) function of the Georgia Power Company Finance organization, located in Atlanta, GA. 

 

The ideal candidate will be able to work 20 – 40 hours per week with a minimum of 16 hours in office each week throughout the Fall semester. Exact workdays and times are flexible.  

 

The FP&A Intern position will provide financial services to support the goals and objectives of the Financial Analysis team. 

 

The Financial Analysis team is responsible for the development of financial projections and analyses for Georgia Power to be used as the basis for key strategic decisions. Including regulated business revenue requirements analyses, unregulated business cash flow analyses, and other financial analyses that require strong business acumen; provides critical support to internal and external customers in the form of financial projections and analyses and supports regulated and unregulated business units and leadership on an as needed basis. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES  

Prepare financial projections and financial analyses for presentation to management, internal, and external customers utilizing PowerPoint and Excel 

Develop and maintain financial models and tools to support business decision-making and costing using Microsoft Excel and Utilities International (UI) financial planning model 

Assist with providing financial review and oversight to help ensure the company effectively manages risk and return requirements as it considers new opportunities 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:   

Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field 

Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint 

Strong understanding of data management and data relationships 

Relevant experience including internships/co-ops or leadership roles is a plus 

Understanding of utility finance, accounting and rate making principles is a plus
