First-Year Associate Attorney
Our established and growing plaintiff's personal injury law firm is seeking a motivated first-year associate attorney to join our litigation team.
This position is ideal for a new attorney who wants immediate, hands-on litigation experience and the opportunity to build a long-term career with a firm that values mentorship, initiative, and professional growth.
Responsibilities include:
• Manage a caseload of personal injury and civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, memoranda of law, and appellate documents as needed.
• Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Attend court conferences, hearings, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, and trial strategy.
• Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and opposing counsel.
• Evaluate liability, damages, and case value.
• Prepare clients for depositions, independent medical examinations, and court appearances.
• Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case status and litigation strategy.
• Review medical records, expert reports, and discovery materials.
• Work closely with paralegals and support staff to ensure cases move efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and ethical obligations.
• Contribute to the firm’s continued growth by providing exceptional client service and high-quality legal representation.
Qualifications:
Admitted to practice in New York (or admission pending).
Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Desire to develop as a trial attorney.
