Public Health and Health Services Administration 

Application 2026-27 

Join our team and gain valuable skills! We are looking for outgoing, motivated, and welcoming community builders to intern 35 hours total per semester during the 2026-27 academic year. Interns will work under the direct supervision of the director and program coordinator to ensure quality outcomes. This internship includes a $600 stipend, 2 payments of $300 based on work performance.

This internship offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students interested in careers in public health, healthcare, social services, nonprofit leadership, or community health programming.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management Support

• Assist staff with client intake interviews and needs assessments.
• Help connect clients with appropriate community resources and referral services.
• Follow up with clients for compliance with Partnerships Healthplan of CA
• Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and organizational policies.

Documentation & Data Management

• Complete and maintain accurate client records and case notes.
• Assist with data entry and documentation for program reporting.
• Support the collection and organization of program outcomes and participant information.

Special Projects & Community Engagement

• Create, plan, and coordinate events designed to reduce social isolation among clients.
• Develop and assist with educational, recreational, and wellness activities for older adults in the community.
• Collaborate with community partners to promote inclusive and accessible programming.
• Assist with outreach and marketing efforts for community events.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the internship, you will:

• Develop practical skills in case management and client-centered care.
• Gain experience with public health program planning and evaluation.
• Learn effective community outreach and health promotion strategies.
• Strengthen professional communication and documentation skills.
• Understand nonprofit operations, grant writing, and community partnership development.
• Build experience working with diverse and underserved populations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in Public Health, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Gerontology, Sociology, Nursing, or a related field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Organized with strong attention to detail.
• Passion for serving older adults and improving community health outcomes.
