Public Affairs Officer (PAO)  

Lead the Navy's Story

Are you passionate about communications, media, marketing, public relations, or strategic storytelling? As a U.S. Navy Public Affairs Officer (PAO), you'll shape the Navy's public image while leading communication efforts that inform, inspire, and build trust around the world.

As a PAO, you'll serve as the official spokesperson for the Navy, manage media relations, oversee social media campaigns, advise senior leaders on communication strategy, and document missions through writing, photography, and video production. Whether supporting humanitarian missions, international operations, or major public events, you'll tell the stories that matter.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop strategic communication and public affairs campaigns
  • Serve as a Navy spokesperson and work with national and local media
  • Lead digital marketing and social media initiatives
  • Produce news releases, speeches, articles, photography, and video content
  • Advise senior leadership on public affairs and crisis communication
  • Coordinate media coverage during military exercises and humanitarian missions

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, or multimedia production
  • Ability to lead in dynamic, fast-paced environments
