CNC Machinist, Entry-level

Summary of Position

The Entry-Level Machinist is responsible for learning and supporting CNC machining operations. This position will assist with basic machine setup, operation, part inspection, and general shop support under the guidance of experienced machinists, leads, or management.

This role is intended for candidates with basic technical training, mechanical aptitude, or an interest in developing CNC machining skills. The Entry-Level Machinist will be expected to follow established procedures, work safely, maintain quality standards, keep the work area clean and organized, and demonstrate a willingness to learn the machining trade.

  • Set up and operate Fadal CNC machines under supervision and established procedures
  • Read and interpret basic prints, work instructions, and specifications
  • Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions
  • Perform basic machine offsets and adjustments as trained
  • Inspect parts to ensure they meet quality and dimensional requirements
  • Maintain required tolerances and surface finish standards
  • Keep machines and work areas clean, organized, and safe
  • Any additional duties as assigned by management


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:

  • Completion of High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical training in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field required
  • Prior CNC machining experience is a plus but not required
  • Ability to understand basics of machining principles and blueprint reading
  • Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers 
  • Willingness to learn CNC machining and develop machining skills

 

Work Environment
The working conditions described below are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this position.

  • Primarily works in a manufacturing environment operating CNC machining equipment
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, machine coolants, vibration, and moderate to high noise levels
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the workday
  • May be required to lift and move materials, parts, and tooling in accordance with company safety guidelines
  • Overtime, including evenings and weekends, may be required to meet production schedules and customer demands
  • Compliance with all company safety policies and procedures is required, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Safety glasses with side shields are required at all times in production areas, and safety-toe footwear is required.


Physical Demands
The working conditions described below are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential 

  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms. 
  • The employee may be required to sit for extended periods, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl while accessing manufacturing or production areas.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50lbs. 
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Special Requirements
This position requires compliance with U.S. Export Control regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants must meet the applicable “U.S. Person” requirements as defined by ITAR.
