Position Overview

The Ursuline School seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and accomplished music educator to serve as Strings & Orchestra Teacher. The successful candidate will lead the school's Orchestra program while providing high-quality string instruction to students in Grades 6–12. This position offers the opportunity to build upon Ursuline's long tradition of musical excellence while collaborating closely with colleagues in a thriving Performing Arts Department.

The ideal candidate will inspire students through both ensemble and individualized instruction while fostering technical proficiency, artistic expression, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

Start Date: 9/1/2026

Position: Middle/High School (6 - 12); Teaching assignment to be determined based on candidate qualifications and departmental needs. Depending upon the final assignment, this position may be benefits-eligible.

Salary Range:  Commensurate with assignment, education, and experience. 

Responsibilities

  • Teach beginning and intermediate string instruction to students in Grades 6–12.
  • Lead and continue to develop The Ursuline School Orchestra program, including conducting rehearsals and preparing students for performances.
  • Select developmentally appropriate repertoire that promotes musical growth and artistic excellence.
  • Provide individualized coaching and performance instruction.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow performing arts faculty to strengthen the overall music program.
  • Participate actively in concerts, admissions programs, school events, and community performances.
  • Depending upon candidate qualifications and departmental needs, serve as Director for the Fall Play and/or Spring Musical.


 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in string pedagogy and orchestral conducting.
  • Experience teaching middle and/or high school orchestra and string students preferred.
  • Experience preparing student ensembles for public performance.
  • Strong communication, rehearsal planning, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students while fostering artistic excellence.
  • Commitment to educating the whole person within a Catholic, college preparatory environment.
