Director Of Education

Director of Education

We are seeking a Director of Education to lead the day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will be a proven leader with exceptional leadership development and management skills. They will be passionate and committed to improving and enhancing the lives of underserved children. The Director
of Education reports to the CEO.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of a large program to ensure students, with a wide range of levels of preparedness and engagement, receive balanced enrichment, leadership, and health & wellness programming
Work closely with the Miami Dade County Public School Principals and leadership to ensure out of school program student policies and procedures are coordinated and appropriately aligned with day school
Ensure all students are safe, engaged and supervised by adults at all times
Partner and collaborate with other program leaders including, Care Coordination department serving students in grades K-12 to promote cohesive collaboration
Ensure program stays on track to consistently meet program goals and objectives
Manage a team comprised of various supervisory and program support roles designed to support and enhance students academically, artistically, and socio-emotionally
Clarify work policies for staff and ensure they are consistent with BTC's policies, procedures, and values
Foster strong relationships and effective communication and collaboration with students, parents, staff, and BTC leadership

Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of progressive educational or social service experience; or a related field and have at least two years of relevant experience working with similar family and youth populations.
Expert understanding of the relevant trends and research in youth development and best practices about out of school program implementation
Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues prevalent in underserved communities of color
Strong belief that all students should be on a path to college and career success
Demonstrated record of meeting and exceeding goals and positively impacting children, their families, and the community as a whole
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to navigate and manage multiple stakeholders
Strong direct management skills, including the ability to effectively supervise coach and develop staff
Excellent time management skills, coupled with a strong sense of urgency to get things done without
sacrificing accuracy and ethical behavior
Strong qualitative and quantitative data analysis and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
Ability to work flexible hours, as required by the demands of the program

The Belafonte TACOLCY Center is a key Miami non-profit engaging more than 5,000 youth and parents each year to foster positive development in Liberty City. This part-time, on-site role involves mentoring youth and supporting their academic and personal growth. The pay is $66,144.00 annually. This position offers benefits (Insurance, 401K, Vacation, Sick Day and Personal Days).
