Certified Educational Therapist

Position Summary

Attention Learning and Developmental Services is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and motivated Certified Educational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The Educational Therapist will provide individualized intervention and support for children, adolescents, and young adults with learning differences, attention challenges, executive functioning deficits, and developmental delays; direct assessment or interpretation of prior data may be required to develop a treatment plan.  This role requires collaboration with families, schools, and other professionals to develop comprehensive intervention plans that promote academic success, confidence, and independence.

ALDS is a psychology practice that offers a full range of diagnostic, educational, therapeutic, and clinical services specialized in meeting the needs of children, adolescents, and young adults with attention, learning, and developmental issues as well as supporting their parents and families.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct educational therapy assessments to identify students' learning strengths, challenges, and intervention needs or interpret prior testing as appropriate. 
• Develop and implement individualized educational therapy plans based on assessment results and student goals. 
• Provide one-on-one educational therapy focused on:
  • Reading, writing, and mathematics intervention
  • Executive functioning and organizational skills
  • Study skills and test preparation
  • Attention and self-regulation strategies
  • Metacognitive learning strategies
  • Developmental delays
• Utilize evidence-based instructional methods and multisensory teaching approaches.
• Monitor student progress through ongoing data collection and adjust interventions as needed.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and occupational therapists.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP), Section 504, and treatment team meetings when appropriate.
• Provide parent coaching and education regarding learning differences, executive functioning, and effective home support strategies.
• Prepare timely documentation, treatment notes, progress reports, and recommendations. 
• Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with professional standards and agency policies.
• Stay current with research and best practices in educational therapy, learning disabilities, ADHD, dyslexia, executive functioning, and developmental disorders.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and interdisciplinary case consultations. 

Qualifications

• Current certified educational therapist with an Educational Therapist/Professional (ET/P ), Board Certified Educational Therapist (BCET), or Professionally Certified Educational Therapist (PCET) credential in accordance with state and professional licensing requirements.
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Educational Therapy, Special Education, Psychology, Education, Counseling, or related field preferred.
• Experience working with students with learning disability, ADHD, dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorder, executive functioning challenges, and developmental differences.
• Knowledge of evidence-based intervention programs and multisensory instructional methodologies.
• Strong understanding of psychoeducational evaluations and interpretation of assessment data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, educators, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Strong organization, documentation, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative clinical time.
• Reliable mode of transportation. 
• Comfort working in varying environments including office, school, community, and home settings. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification through the Association of Educational Therapists (AET),  National Institute for Learning Development (NILD) or equivalent professional organization.
• Experience with Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, Lindamood-Bell, or other structured literacy programs.
• Experience supporting executive functioning, ADHD coaching, and school consultation.
• Bilingual skills are a plus

Expectations and Protections

We are looking for highly professional and responsible individuals who can work in varying environments including our office, community settings, and schools as well as travel to homes within the South Bay (Palos Verdes to El Segundo) to offer educational therapy to students with unique learning challenges. Safety precautions are taken for in-person sessions in accordance with CDC guidelines, state mandates, and family preferences. 

Candidates must be able to commit to a minimum of 10 hours a week. Total hours may exceed 10 if additional availability is provided. Required availability is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3pm - 8pm with preferred ability to also work daytime/school hours. There are additional opportunities for Sunday and daytime hours, but that availability is optional.

Pay range: $70+ per hour plus potential administrative compensation
