Psychiatric Consultant

 

 

Job Title: Psychiatrist - Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) 

 Location: Primarily Remote / Telehealth (College of Staten Island, NY)
 Position Type: Part-Time Consultant (Approx. 2–3 days per month)

 Rate: $182/hr
 Contract Term: One-year initial term with two 1-year renewal options.

Role Overview

ESO Consultants LLC is seeking a credentialed Psychiatric Consultant to provide clinical services. Operating within a collaborative care model, the Consultant will perform psychiatric evaluations and manage medications yearly.

Mandatory Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensure: Must hold an active Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) license.
  • Specialty Certification:
    • NPs: Must hold a Specialist Certification in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health (ANCC or equivalent).
    • MDs: Must hold a Specialty Certification in Psychiatry (ABPN or equivalent).
  • Prescriptive Authority: Active DEA Licensure and use of an electronic prescription (eRx) management system for patient record-keeping.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of verifiable experience providing clinical psychiatric evaluations and medication management services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric medication evaluations and assessments for referred students.
  • Manage ongoing medication regimens, including initiating, adjusting, and discontinuing treatments based on clinical response.
  • Collaborate with the college counseling team to ensure integrated care for students.
  • Provide patient education regarding side effects, contraindications, and treatment expectations.
  • Maintain HIPAA-compliant records and utilize evidence-based practices for a college-aged population.

Schedule & Clinical Setting

  • Telehealth Focus: Services are primarily delivered via teleconference and telephone.
  • Availability: Consultant should be available during normal business hours (Monday–Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM), with occasional off-hours consultations as needed.
  • On-Campus Requirements: Occasional on-campus visits may be required at the direction of the Director of the Counseling Center.

Preferred Expertise

  • Proven experience working within a multidisciplinary care team.
  • Familiarity with the specific mental health conditions and developmental needs of college-aged populations.
  • Strong background in risk management and telehealth-specific HIPAA protocols.
