This position is an Accelerated Compensation for Developmental Position (ACDP) within the 309 Software Engineering Group (309 SWEG), established to systematically develop the incumbent for advancement to the full-performance NH-03 target grade. Under the direct mentorship and guidance of a Senior Computer Scientist, the incumbent will follow a structured training and development plan. Through formal instruction and progressively challenging hands-on assignments, the role is designed to cultivate the critical technical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and agility required to navigate change and complexity within the Air Force environment.

Operationally, the computer scientist will focus on designing, implementing, and supporting robust software and engineering solutions for a diverse range of Industrial Automation and Air Operations systems. These duties require the application of advanced computational theories and software engineering practices to ensure system reliability and operational readiness. To qualify for promotion to the NH-03 target level, the incumbent must successfully meet all regulatory training milestones and demonstrate the technical proficiency necessary to operate independently on complex, mission-critical systems.
