Aerial Adventure Park Ranger
POSITION SUMMARY:
Aerial Adventure Park Rangers at Arapahoe Basin deliver a fun, informative, and safe environment for guests using the Aerial Adventure Park (AAP) by utilizing clear verbal communication, possessing knowledge of the park and all equipment, and following all training guidelines.
This position will work from August 3 - September 27. Housing may be available for this position.
WAGE:
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Arapahoe Basin’s hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, and responsibilities. The range listed is just one component of Arapahoe Basin’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
AAP Rangers are eligible for a staging program that relates to applicable pay based on experience. See below for specific details.
Hourly pay range: $20.50 - $22.50/hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform daily morning set-up procedures and end-of-day closing procedures
Check in guests to the activity and assist them with checking out upon the completion of their park experience
Fit harnesses for guests; supervise the guests’ use of all personal safety equipment during park use
Conduct pre-course informative safety talk and demo; assist guests with proper safety training
Assess each guest’s ability to use the park after completing ground school
Educate guests on A-Basin’s natural surroundings and other relevant information throughout the guests’ experience in the park
Assist with maintaining the overall park facility and equipment including: daily cleaning, inspections, and proper equipment storage
Interact closely with Guest Services, Mountain Patrol, Base Area, and all other A-Basin operations to provide a high-quality guest experience
Follow all departmental sustainability guidelines
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous customer service experience and passion to engage with people
Strong verbal communication skills
Ability to speak comfortably in front of large groups
Problem-solving skills
Ability to guide and teach people through an experience (required to demonstrate these skills during interview process)
Must be available weekends and holidays
This position requires successful completion of a background check.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Must successfully complete required site-specific training course(s)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be physically capable of completing all elements of the Aerial Adventure Park
Use full range of body motion: bend, twist, kneel, push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Stand, walk, and climb on uneven surfaces for up to 8 hours
Withstand high altitude conditions at all times

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position will work outdoors in a high-alpine environment in all types of weather conditions. Most work is performed in a highly trafficked area in view of guests. This role involves a very frequent amount of high-volume guest interaction. This position may require physically engaging with guests in rescue (or other applicable) situations. There is frequent exposure to heights of up to 70 feet above the ground.

Aerial Adventure Park Ranger Staging Program
AAP Rangers at A-Basin are eligible for a staging program that starts when hired and continues into employment.
AAP Ranger I: Pay Range: $20.50 - $22.50/hr

AAP Ranger II: Pay Range: $21.00 – $24.25/hr
Ability to fulfill all AAP Ranger 1 requirements in addition to the following:
Perform daily morning course inspections and safety protocols including completing required written logs
Oversee the park start platform informing guests about the different trails; ensure that they are properly clipped in and harnessed before starting
Engage with guests in the park; encourage and verbally assist guests as they travel through the trails
Work at heights of up to 70 feet above the ground with the use of fall protection
Understand and perform park rescue operations, in accordance with training manuals and guidelines, including the stabilizing, moving and lowering of participant
Assist with inventorying equipment and other equipment maintenance
Perform other duties as assigned
Must be able to lift most or all of their own body weight while climbing and balancing on obstacles up to 70 feet above the ground
AAP Ranger III: Pay Range: $21.50 – $24.75/hr
Ability to fulfill all AAP Ranger 1 & 2 requirements in addition to the following:
Lead morning daily set-up and end-of-day teardown of all park operations, including the plaza
Act as a start platform leader
Assist the AAP Lead with monthly course inspections
Occasionally serve as the opening and/or closing person for the park
