Postdoctoral Associate, PGAD Training Program
We are accepting applications for one remaining postdoctoral appointment to our recently renewed NIA T32 Training Program in Precision Genetics in Neural Aging, Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (PGAD: AG062409-06).
The goal of the PGAD-TP at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX), led by Drs. Gareth Howell, Kristen O’Connell, and Meredith Theeman, is to train the next generation of scientists to study the complexity and heterogeneity of neural aging and ADRD. Central to the PGAD-TP is training in the use of more clinically relevant mouse models, including genetically diverse mouse strains, to better reflect human aging and disease. Since its inception seven years ago, the PGAD-TP has included all aspects of aging and age-related diseases, with an emphasis on ADRD. Overall, the PGAD-TP provides trainees (two predoctoral and two postdoctoral slots per year) with rigorous training in mouse modeling of human neurodegenerative diseases through course work, responsible conduct of research, grant writing and scientific communication, participation in the JAX/UK/IU T32 AD network, and preparation for an independent research career.
The PGAD-TP is part of an active Center for Alzheimer’s and Dementia Research (CADR) at JAX that includes the fifteen PGAD-TP preceptors that bring strengths in neural aging, ADRD, non-ADRD neurodegenerative diseases, technology development, cell modeling, and data sciences. Currently, the following faculty preceptors are open to applications: Dr. Robert Burgess, Dr. Gareth Howell, Dr. Patsy Nishina, Dr. Kristen O’Connell, Dr. Basile Tarchini, Dr. Jennifer Trowbridge, and Dr. Phillip West.
Are you eligible? We are soliciting applications for postdoctoral fellows in year 0-3 of their training who are eligible for NIH NRSA funding, and whose research relates to neural aging, Alzheimer’s disease and/or related dementias. Appointments to T32s provide excellent foundations for future extramural funding. If you are eligible, you are strongly encouraged to apply.
To apply please share a letter of specific interest, updated CV, and letter of recommendation from your PI. Questions and application materials (sent in a single .pdf file) can be directed to the Director of Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Education, Meredith Theeman (Meredith.Theeman@jax.org) by July 15, 2026.
