Cover Supervisor

🏫 Quality Assured Teaching (QAT)

About QAT

Quality Assured Teaching is a Sheffield-based supply teaching agency supplying staff across South Yorkshire secondary schools. Founded and run by qualified teachers, QAT is different from a typical agency: every placement is backed by regular lesson observations, appraisals, and hands-on director-level mentorship, so you're supported to develop — not just placed and forgotten.

The Role

We're looking for reliable, confident Cover Supervisors to manage classes across our partner schools when the usual teacher is unavailable. You'll deliver pre-prepared lesson work, maintain a positive learning environment, and ensure students stay on task and safe throughout the session.

🕒 We offer flexible working patterns to suit different needs — this can be full-time (Monday–Friday, full academic year in a set placement), part-time, or varied day-to-day cover depending on what works for you and what our partner schools need at the time.

âś… Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes across a range of subjects and key stages, following cover work set by the class teacher
  • Maintain classroom discipline and manage student behaviour in line with the school's policies
  • Take attendance and report any issues (behavioural, safeguarding, or welfare) to the appropriate staff
  • Support students with completing set tasks and answer general queries where appropriate
  • Build positive, professional relationships with school staff, students, and QAT's team
  • Attend any required inductions, training, or safeguarding briefings for each placement school

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with young people in a school, education, or similar setting
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • A calm, confident, and adaptable approach to unfamiliar classes and subjects
  • Right to work in the UK

🌟 What QAT Offers

  • Competitive day rates
  • Regular placements across a range of well-established South Yorkshire secondary schools
  • Ongoing support, feedback, and mentorship from a team of qualified, practising teachers
  • Opportunities for regular, set placements (Monday–Friday, full academic year) as well as ad hoc day-to-day work
  • A genuinely quality-focused agency — not just a numbers business
