PREVENTION AND EDUCATION SPECIALIST
The Prevention and Education Specialist plays a critical role in building relationships with community members and organizations through various engagement efforts, such as presentations, events, and social media campaigns. The role requires an innovative individual who has a passion for community outreach and engagement and is willing and able to engage in community-based activities and efforts that focus on changing social norms, attitudes, and behaviors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in a human service or communications field, or a degree in a relevant discipline will also be considered. The ideal candidate has creativity and problem-solving skills alongside teamwork and effective communication. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, have access to personal transportation and be willing to travel for presentations, trainings, and other business related activities. Experience/knowledge in the area of violence prevention is preferred.
COMPENSATION: $18.27-27.40 per hour based on education and experience. A generous leave package including annual leave, sick leave and personal days; 11 paid holidays; health, dental, vision, and life insurance; mileage reimbursement for travel, 403(b) with employer match; and potential eligibility for federal student loan forgiveness.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Projects
- Co-coordinate Green Dot, a bystander intervention community program.
- Organize and plan Green Dot action events.
- Update and submit monthly fidelity checklist to guide the implementation of the Green Dot community program.
- Participate in monthly calls with grant manager.
- Deliver Green Dot community trainings.
- Collect and enter evaluations from Green Dot community trainings.
- Submit reports according to the established timeline.
- Develop social marketing for Green Dot awareness, education, and events.
- Design social media graphics and create content around bystander intervention.
- Update and modify Green Dot website to include relevant and fresh information.
- Facilitate Green Dot meetings with community members.
- Participate on statewide Green Dot team calls and collaborate with other subgrantees as needed.
- Seek technical assistance from the ND Department of Health and Human Services as needed and participate in site visits as scheduled.
- Attend trainings and technical assistance calls hosted by the ND Department of Health and Human Services as requested.
Prevention Projects
- Collaborate with staff to assist with risk and protective survey efforts.
- Foster relationships with school personnel and community organizations.
- Facilitate a wide range of age-appropriate violence prevention curricula and presentations.
Public Education, Training and Awareness Activities
- Participate in primary prevention training online and at the local, state, and national level.
- Conduct community outreach to organizations such as, but not limited to, community agencies, elementary, middle, and high schools, alternative school settings, local businesses, and other agencies in the community.
- Develop and update training packets and other printed material related to prevention and education trainings.
- Deliver training and presentations to community members, students, and professionals as needed.
- Participate in tabling events for CVIC.
- Attend and manage occasional evening and weekend events as needed.
Committees and Meetings
- Participate in the North Dakota Primary Prevention Partners Group.
- Attend CVIC staff meetings.
- Participate in Prevention and Education meetings.
- Other committees and meetings assigned.
Record Keeping
- Coordinate the collection of data and statistics for grant reports.
- Compile agency training evaluations.
- Utilize data systems to enter, analyze, and generate curriculum evaluation reports.
- Track budgetary expenses for Green Dot.
