K-2 STEM Teacher

K–2 STEM Teacher

ASTEME Academy

About ASTEME Academy

ASTEME Academy is a nonprofit, progressive K–9 school dedicated to inspiring students to become curious, independent thinkers, and lifelong learners. Through interdisciplinary, hands-on learning experiences, we encourage children to ask questions, explore big ideas, solve problems, and make meaningful connections across subjects.

We are seeking a passionate, creative, and energetic educator to teach K–2 STEM. This is a unique opportunity for someone who believes learning should be active, engaging, and driven by curiosity. Our ideal candidate brings science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to life through hands-on investigations, engineering challenges, experiments, design thinking, and creative problem-solving.

Rather than relying solely on worksheets or traditional instruction, we encourage teachers to spark wonder through exploration and discovery. One day, students might build earthquake-resistant structures, design bridges, investigate animal adaptations, code simple robots, create weather experiments, explore space, test the strength of different materials, or solve real-world engineering challenges using the design process.

Above all, we're looking for someone who is genuinely excited about inspiring young learners. We welcome both credentialed and non-credentialed educators who bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a broad range of interests into the classroom. If you're the person who lights up talking about dinosaurs, rockets, inventions, engineering marvels, robotics, volcanoes, space exploration, wildlife, chemistry experiments, architecture, or the latest scientific discoveries—and can turn those passions into unforgettable learning experiences—you'll fit right in.

Responsibilities

  • Teach engaging K–2 STEM classes using hands-on, inquiry-based instruction.
  • Design creative lessons that integrate science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and design thinking.
  • Foster curiosity, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving in every lesson.
  • Create project-based learning experiences that encourage experimentation, innovation, and discovery.
  • Guide students through the engineering design process and scientific inquiry.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of diverse learners.
  • Build a positive, inclusive classroom community where every child feels valued and supported.
  • Incorporate educational technology, coding, robotics, and interactive learning tools when appropriate.
  • Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessments.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, field trips, STEM showcases, and community events.
  • Maintain an organized, engaging, and safe learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience teaching elementary-aged students, particularly K–2, is preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to create engaging, student-centered lessons.
  • Passion for inquiry-based, hands-on STEM education.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to a positive school culture.
