Community Engagement DSP

As a Community Engagement DSP, you will work one-on-one or with very small groups, supporting adults with developmental disabilities through purposeful, community-based experiences. Volunteering. Museums. Local recreation. Wellness. Skill-building outings. Real connection with the community around them.
This role is a great fit for someone who is patient, creative, dependable, and genuinely excited by the idea of helping others build the life they want.
What you will do
- Guide and support participants through community activities tied to their Individual Support Plans
- Promote choice, dignity, and meaningful inclusion in everything you do
- Provide transportation using a company vehicle or your own (mileage reimbursed)
- Document daily in Therap (training provided)
- Communicate clearly with families, Support Coordinators, and our team
Pay and schedule
- Starting: $19.00/hour. After full training (about one month): $20.00/hour
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. No weekends, evenings, or overnights.
- W-2 employment, mileage reimbursed at IRS rate
What we are looking for
- Reliability, warmth, and genuine respect for the people we serve
- Strong written communication
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Willingness to drive participants and work in community settings
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check (Virginia State Police and DBHDS)
- Comfortable lifting 25+ lbs and assisting with mobility as needed
Prior DSP, CNA, teaching, or human services experience is a plus, not required. We provide paid training, including CPR/First Aid, Person-Centered Thinking, HIPAA, and Therap documentation.
