Black Cultural Resource Center/ Umoja Community
Under the direct supervision of the Black Cultural Resource Center/Umoja Coordinator, the Student Assistant will provide assistance to students, staff, university representatives, employers, and vendors who visit the Black Cultural Resource Center. This includes providing customer service, outreach, giving directions, and utilizing resources when needed to assist students and visitors to the center.
Primary Duties
● Greet and provide information to prospective, new, and continuing students as well as visitors and campus staff/faculty while stationed at front desk and assist them with any inquiries or tasks.
● Providing visitors with a tour of the center.
● Maintain basic knowledge of Black Cultural Resource Center & Umoja Program services and make referrals as needed.
● Monitoring the main computer and overhead projector, maintaining the display of the Black Cultural Resource Center main web page and appropriate music playing at a low setting, turning off as needed.
● Assist students with getting signed on to the SARS TRAK computer.
● Answer the telephone; retrieve phone messages and make calls.
● Creating flyers, documents, letters, memos, presentations, and other office-related documents.
● Review calendars, flyers, website, social media, and event postings around the center for accuracy. Assist with maintaining up-to-date information.
● Assist with outreach, including classroom presentations, emailing, calling, tabling, posting flyers, etc...
● Assist with events hosted by the Black Cultural Resource Center & Umoja Program.
● Conduct workshops/presentations/team building activities as requested.
● Identify student needs and provide assistance using appropriate resources and referrals
● Attend scheduled team meetings and mandatory trainings
● Using multimedia editing software & making print & digital promotional material
● Marketing on social media and maintaining social media presence (Instagram, TikTok, FB, Snapchat, Discord)
● Organize and clean the immediate work area and around the center; refill supplies and snack station as needed.
● Filing, copying, and a variety of additional office duties will be required.
● Perform related duties as required.

4. Be knowledgeable about Umoja Program and BCRC Service
4. Experience with Canva and/or graphic design skills
5. Experience with social media such as TikTok or Instagram
Education and Experience:
• The current student maintains at least a 2.0 GPA and is in good standing at Las Positas College.
• Ability to do research and familiarity with library databases is a plus
• Knowledgeable about the Las Positas campus and resources
• Able to lift 40 pounds
• Able to type 32 WPM, basic computer skills, and able to quickly learn and use office equipment.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision to organize and prioritize a multitude of tasks.
• Passionate about organization and meticulous with details
Hours and Pay: $16-$17 per hour, 10 hours per week during
