Full-time | Salary: 66,236 - $89,262 Annually

 

The County of Los Angeles Department of Agricultural Commissioner/Weights and Measures is recruiting for the position of Agricultural/Weights and Measures Inspector II.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct agricultural, pesticide, weights and measures, and commodity inspections to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulatory requirements.
  • Use inspection tools and testing equipment to verify product standards, pesticide compliance, labeling, weights, measurements, and commercial transaction accuracy.
  • Investigate violations, gather evidence, maintain records, collect fees, and prepare inspection certificates, notices of violation, reports, and recommended actions.
  • Identify pests, diseases, weeds, and other agricultural risks, and provide control recommendations when needed.

Minimum Requirements:

OPTION I: A Bachelor's degree with specialization in one or more appropriate disciplines in agricultural science, biological science, chemical science, physical science, mathematics, and/or statistics -AND- Two years of experience performing agricultural or weights and measures inspections for a public jurisdiction.

OPTION II:  A Bachelor's degree specialization in any discipline with a minimum of 30 semester units, or equivalent, in one or any combination of the following fields: agricultural science, biological science, chemical science, physical science, mathematics, and/or statistics -AND- Two years of experience performing agricultural or weights and measures inspections for a public jurisdiction.

 

LICENSE: A valid State of California weights and measures license in Weight Verification and Measurement Verification -AND- a valid State of California agricultural license in Commodity Regulation, Pest Prevention and Plant Regulation, and Pesticide Regulation.
