Job Title: Student Office Assistant (Fall 2026- Spring 2027) - Fine Arts and Communications Academic Advising
Department: Fine Arts and Communications Advising
Work location: Old Main 118
Job Summary: An administrative support position in which the student worker will be responsible for assisting front office advising staff with daily clerical tasks and responsibilities.
Job Duties:
- Provide office support by answering phones, scheduling academic advising appointments, interacting courteously with visitors and assisting them to meet their needs in a professional manner
- Assist the administrative assistant with special projects
- Guide callers and visitors to appropriate departments and/or processes in accordance with university policies and procedures
Required Qualifications:
- Must be awarded Work Study funds for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027
- Must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week
- Must be able and willing to learn how to use TXST-specific software/programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent time management
- Well organized
- Self-motivated
- Available to work 3 or more hours at a time per shift, per day
- Knowledge of TXST departments, policies, and procedures

Employee Evaluation Process: Student employees are evaluated on a semesterly basis by the Director (or Interim Director) of the Advising Center.
Payrate Determination: Student employees will begin at the starting pay rate of $10/hr. Depending on a positive performance review and continued employment, employees will receive a pay increase at the start of their second year.
