About the Role
EMI Advisors is seeking an enthusiastic Data Visualization Intern who is currently pursuing a master’s degree and is passionate about transforming complex data into meaningful visual stories. Working alongside experienced analysts, data scientists, and technical leaders, you will support the design, development, and implementation of dashboards, reports, and business intelligence solutions for government and commercial clients. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with enterprise analytics tools while contributing to projects that improve organizational performance and decision-making. You will receive mentorship, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and build practical skills that prepare you for a career in data analytics and visualization. This internship averages 10 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the transformation of raw data into actionable business insights through dashboards, reports, and analytics.
- Assist with designing, developing, and enhancing data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar business intelligence tools.
- Help collect, clean, validate, and organize data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports that communicate key performance indicators and business insights.
- Participate in dashboard testing, quality assurance, and continuous improvement activities.
- Assist in preparing executive presentations, reports, and solution demonstrations.
Collaborate with analysts, developers, project managers, and stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and deliver effective visualization solutions. - Document dashboard designs, data sources, and technical processes to support knowledge sharing and project continuity.
- Research emerging data visualization techniques, analytics tools, and industry best practices.
- Participate in Agile team meetings and contribute to project planning and status updates.
Support additional data analytics and visualization initiatives as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Available to work approximately 10 hours per week during the internship.
- Experience creating dashboards or visualizations through coursework, research, academic projects, internships, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.
- Basic knowledge of SQL.
- Experience with Python or R through academic coursework or projects.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or research involving business intelligence, data visualization, analytics, machine learning, or artificial intelligence.
- Experience using Qlik Sense, Power BI, Tableau, Power Automate, or similar analytics tools.
- Familiarity with data modeling, ETL concepts, or database management.
- Experience using Git or other version control systems.
- Interest in government consulting, health IT, defense, artificial intelligence, or digital transformation.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies through coursework, internships, research, or certifications.
